Why do people like to talk about stupid, unimportant things?

No one cares about how your day was, no one cares about what you're doing tomorrow, no one cares how your son is doing in soccer, I don't care if your little girl scored a 100 on her spelling day. Why do people talk about this stuff to me. I don't give a ****. If I must talk I want to talk about something important, like existentialism, or the meaing of life, or whether morality exists, or the definition of right or wrong. Talking about useless things is wasting time.
